Copula is a verb that connects the subject to a noun or adjective. Auxiliary verb is a verb that serves as a helping verb. Copula verbs fall into 2 broad groups: Describing some kind of state that the thing or person referred to by the subject is in. (verbs of this sort include: be, remain, seem and appear.)
